Has anyone used Camtasia studio 6 and Captivate? I’m wondering if Captivate is worth that extra cash. Quite a bit extra cash. I find it almost unbelievable that for the extra cash the file sizes are larger than Camtasia’s file sizes as well. What about an internet era? We’re in one… A 60.3MB file would take me a long time to upload – and no audio on that? Is there an alternative to either of these two high-priced options? I have a lot of questions because I’m just researching this now…

Although the datestamp on that blog post titled Sharewood Picnic 83 was December 2006, it could still be relevant. But to make sure, it would be a stronger case if you searched a little deeper for reviews of the product beyond this one promotional post. (Where, I might add, the author is far more concerned about the visitor clicking on google ads than engaging with his/her content.)

However, the tool the post refers to for making VOIP internet calls is not called Sharewood Picnic 83. In fact, I’m not really sure what that title refers to except maybe it’s #83 in a series of similar posts? The actual tool is PhoneGnome. I have not heard of PhoneGnome, but before I would be interested in using it, I would want to know how its function and pricing compares to established tools that I do know such as Skype and Gizmo. In regards to your concern that VOIP international calling is not competitive with phone rates from your local phone company, last I checked into it, there wasn’t even a comparison. ($20/month to get a rate of $2/minute to call Japan or something like that). But getting factual up-to-date comparisons would help contextualize this argument.
